Just three games into the new Premier League season, the rumour mill is already spinning on which manager could lose their job first.

With the fickle nature of job stability amongst managers these days, one could only be a couple of poor results away from the boot. With teams such as Leicester City, Aston Villa, West Ham and even Liverpool struggling in the early stages of the season, it’s anybody’s guess who the first one to go will be.

Without further ado then, let’s take a look at who Sky Bet think the five most likely managers to lose their job first are.

(Correct as of 23rd August)

Brendan Rodgers (Leicester) 8/13

Leicester have struggled in the early stages of the season, picking up just one point from the opening three games, and with issues behind the scenes at the King Power, and key players such as Wesley Fofana, Youri Tielemans and Jamie Vardy being linked with moves elsewhere, and Leicester’s complete lack of business so far this window, the Northern Irishman’s job looks far from secure.

Frank Lampard (Everton) 5/1

Everton are also winless in their opening three fixtures of the new season, and as they continue to be without Dominic Calvert-Lewin, with Anthony Gordon heavily linked to Chelsea, Everton could well be dragged into relegation trouble sooner rather than later. If that happens, Lampard could well be the first to go.

Steven Gerrard (Aston Villa) 6/1

After Aston Villa’s 3-1 defeat to Crystal Palace, Steven Gerrard’s win percentage in charge of the Villans sits at just 35.5%. With Villa spending big over the last few years with ambitions to make it into Europe within a few years, just 3 wins in their last 14 games is not good enough, and if their poor form continues, the Villa board could lose patience with him.

Ralph Hassenhuttl (Southampton) 13/2

A staple of these lists, Ralph Hasenhuttl seems to have been under pressure at Southampton forever. Last weekend’s 2-1 win at Leicester might have given him more security, but the Saints will need to keep that form up consistently over the next fixtures for the Austrian to feel completely secure in his role, and for those odds to drift.

Erik Ten Hag (Manchester United) 10/1

Perhaps the most clear sign of how quickly a manager can lose their job, Erik ten Hag is the fifth favourite to leave their role next on Sky Bet. As unlikely as it seems, especially after their victory over bitter rivals Liverpool, performances like those defeats to Brentford and Brighton might just raise questions about the Dutchman’s viability as the manager at Old Trafford.
