Ben McKenna is the Central Sports Editor for National World, having taken on the role in March 2023. He hails from Northern Ireland and after studying sports journalism at the University of Huddersfield, he is now based back in his home country. He helps to oversee the production of content across the National World network, from the Yorkshire Evening Post to the Edinburgh Evening News and from LiverpoolWorld to LondonWorld. Ben started his career with National World as part of the West Yorkshire weeklies in the summer of 2018. He produced content for titles such as the Wakefield Express, the Batley News and the Halifax Courier before he progressed to working as a sports reporter on the Yorkshire Post, where he covered football, boxing, rugby league and a variety of sports from Formula 1 to rugby union. He has reported on Premier League football, Super League matches and world-title boxing events. Ben has always held a keen interest in football but enjoys a number of sports, including Formula 1, rugby league, boxing and golf. As well as overseeing a range of content, Ben also produces content of his own as part of his day-to-day work, as the fast-growing National World network continues to expand.
