Crystal Palace have confirmed Ferguson would be departing Selhurst Park this summer. The Eagles like the other 19 Premier League clubs have published their retained lists and Ferguson along with James Tomkins and Jairo Riedewald are leaving.

In a personal message to Ferguson, the South London club said: “We can also confirm that Nathan Ferguson will depart the club upon the expiration of his contract this summer. The club would like to place on record its thanks to Nathan for his efforts, and wish him well in his future career.” Ferguson joined Palace on a free transfer in July 2020 after rejecting a contract offer from the Baggies. A tribunal in November 2021 ruled Palace would have to pay £900,000 to West Brom to sign him. It was a ruling that left West Brom disappointed as a bid of £8m was accepted for him when he was under contract but a knee problem saw them Palace lower their bid to £4m.

The 23-year-old was limited to just one senior appearance for Palace over four years after enduring an injury-hit time in the capital. Ferguson, a four-time England under-20 international did make a playing comeback this season featuring twice for the Eagles' under-21s team in the Premier League 2.

He was given an opportunity in first-team football in 2019/20 by Slaven Bilic. Ferguson appeared a total of 21 times for the Baggies as they finished second to win promotion to the Premier League. He didn't feature for the team however from January onwards and missed the end of season run in after COVID-19 prolonged the campaign in to July.
