Birmingham City and Wolves could both see their transfer targets head across the Championship.

Bristol City and Burnley are locked in transfer discussions over a deal that would possibly effect the business of Birmingham City and Wolves.

According to Bristol Live, the Robins and the Clarets are in talks over an 'ambitious' swap deal which would see Tommy Conway head to Turf Moor and Scott Twine and Luke McNally head to Ashton Gate. Earlier this week, Middlesbrough made an offer up to about £5m to the West Country club for Conway, but a lot of it hinged on clauses, whilst Bristol City wanted more up-front payments.

The 21-year-old now looks all but set to leave Bristol City after being made to train with the under-21s despite receiving two new contract offers. Burnley had shown a 'tentative' interest but now things could pick up between the two as a deal with Middlesbrough slows down.

In the report from Bristol Live they said that Twine has been a priority for Liam Manning this summer but have been unwilling to meet their valuation on the player, and now he has been included in discussions over a possible swap deal. Twine trained at their High Performance Centre training ground in the summer and wants to return there following a positive loan spell.

As to how both Birmingham and Wolves would be affected is that both Twine and Conway are reported targets. In June, Blues were linked with an ambitious swoop for Twine, but faced competition from Sunderland Bristol City, with the latter having him on loan last season.

In June, Blues were linked with an ambitious swoop for Twine, but faced competition from Sunderland Bristol City, with the latter having him on loan last season. The 25-year-old is predominantly an attacking midfielder and is of a similar ilk to Jay Stansfield, and so the likelihood is that it would be one or the other.

As for Wolves, it appears that Conway isn’t a player is a priority for them, but there has been reported interest which is said to be ‘genuine’. In April, it was claimed that Wolves, along with Brentford, Leicester, Nottingham Forest, Celtic and Rangers had all been keeping an eye on him, but only Middlesbrough and Burnley have made any real moves.

A centre-back remains the priority for Gary O'Neil following the £40m sale of Max Kilman to West Ham, but he has been impressed by what he has seen from those already at the club. O'Neil had a striker on the agenda this summer and got his man after landing Jorgen Strand Larsen from Celta Vigo.
