Birmingham City's opening day opponents Reading hit with devastating injury blow

Birmingham City's League One opponents Reading will be without their club captain for their opening day clash at St Andrew's.
Andy Yiadom will be out from between to eight weeks after efforts to heal his knee did not work. The 32-year-old has been dealing with a knee issue and multiple 'procedures' have taken place to try and address the issue but now the Royals are back to the drawing board with their skipper.

Hide AdYiadom will now have to sit back and wait until the end of September to see if he is able to make a return. Manager Ruben Selles said that there would be no guarantee he would be fit after that period had elapsed.
"Andy was out at the last part of last season," Selles said to the Reading Chronicle at the weekend.
"We gave time for the knee to settle and the different procedures the doctors did with him didn’t work and now we need to wait another six to eight weeks to see if he can come back on time.
"Otherwise, we need to find different solutions. There is no guarantee that after eight weeks he will be back with us."

Hide AdReading's injury list isn't too long with John Ryan being the only other player side-lined. Ryan suffered an anterior cruciate ligament injury against Woking, which will put him on the shelf for some time.
The 20-year-old full-back had hoped to have made a breakthrough this summer after being named on the bench for their draw with Barnsley in mid-April.
