Latest injury and team news as Aston Villa travel to Crystal Palace on the final day of the Premier League season.

Aston Villa travel to Selhurst Park to face Crystal Palace in the Premier League on Sunday (May 19).

The Villa know they are already assured of a Champions League spot after Spurs lost to Manchester City, meaning they couldn't catch Unai Emery's side. Villa had their end of season awards on Tuesday with the coaching staff and players celebrating the moment.

Villa still want to end the season on a high with a victory though it will be a tough ask given the Eagles have won five of their last six matches. Oliver Glasner has given them a new lease of life since taking over from Roy Hodgson and they could prove tough opposition for the final day clash.

Here’s the latest injury and team news ahead of kick-off.

Aston Villa team news

Youri Tielemans has been ruled out of Villa’s final game of the Premier League season. The Belgian midfielder had been out for a few weeks with a groin injury but returned against Liverpool, but he will be unavailable for selection for the season finale.

Matty Cash and Morgan Rogers aren’t available either. Cash suffered a calf strain in the build-up to last week’s match whilst Rogers hasn’t featured since coming off with a hamstring injury against Brighton. Right-back Cash is hoping to be involved with Poland at EURO 2024 whilst it has been suggested that Rogers could be a surprise inclusion in Gareth Southgate’s England squad.

In his pre-match press conference, Emery said: “Tielemans, Cash & Rogers are not available (vs Palace) — we will play there being competitive..”

It was confirmed earlier this week by his national team manager Luciano Spalletti that Nicolo Zaniolo would miss the match and also this summer’s EURO 2024. The Italian, who joined for a £4.25m loan fee from Galatasaray has suffered a foot injury that will put him out for at least the next month.

"He did the effort because we tried to use every players,” said Emery.

“He played 10 minutes and he broke his metatarsal and he will be out of the Euros. It is very sad for him. At the beginning of the season it will be difficult for him.”

Boubacar Kamara, Emi Buendia, Jacob Ramsey and Tyrone Mings are also ruled out. Buendia, Kamara and Mings all suffered knee injuries at various different points of the campaign whilst Ramsey has a toe injury.

Crystal Palace team news

Oliver Glasner ruled out Will Hughes featuring against Villa. He sustained an injury against Villa and it was feared that it was serious, however he will just miss a couple of weeks and will be back for pre-season.

“Will is out for the last game against Aston Villa,” confirmed Glasner.

“It looked terrible on the video – in the game and also on the video – but fortunately everything is okay with his ligament.

“He has a bone bruise and he will be out for several weeks. He should be back when we start with pre-season, but he is out for the last game.”

Jefferson Lema is available for selection after missing a month of action. He has missed the last three matches because he felt some tightness in hamstring, but could feature after losing two midfield options.

Jefferson Lerma is fit and will come back to the squad, and all others are still fit,”Glasner added. “I’m always pleased if a player comes back from injury.

“It’s good, but he was out for four weeks now and this was the first week of training, so he has to get back into the rhythm, but it’s good to have him back.”

Naouirou Ahamada is missing through suspension. He picked up his tenth yellow card of the season and that will rule him out for this game. The 22-year-old has played 20 games this season but has been in and out of the team and his 70-minute appearance last week was his longest he had played with no starts this season.

Palace will also be without Sam Johnstone, Rob Holding, Cheick Doucoure and Matheus Franca. Johnstone required surgery on his elbow whilst Holding made just one Carabao Cup appearance for the club this season. Doucoure hasn’t played since November because of an Achilles injury and Franca has been out since the start of March.

Out: Will Hughes, Naouirou Ahamada, Sam Johnstone, Rob Holding, Cheick Doucoure and Matheus Franca.
