‘I saw the videos’ - Cesar Peixoto reveals brilliant detail behind Wolves hero’s double

Wolves boss hails teenage hero after clever preparation delivers the perfect result.

Beaming Wolves boss Cesar Peixoto praised teenage hero Sean Neave after preparation paid off in spectacular fashion during their dramatic comeback win.

The Portuguese head coach hailed a “big victory” for Wolves at Bristol City where they climbed into the Championship’s automatic promotion places, moving second and within a point of leaders Middlesbrough.

Peixoto explained that Wolves had prepared for the exact scenario which led to their equaliser, with substitute Neave reacting quickest after Adam Armstrong’s shot was parried into his path. The 19-year-old then struck again in the closing stages to snatch all three points.

On Neave’s heroics, he told the Express & Star: “Very important. He has made his first steps in professional football, and we believe in him. He is very humble.

“He did work in the hotel. We made short videos for the strikers to show them the way the goalkeeper defends. We saw sometimes that the goalkeeper rebounds the ball from shots, and he believed in that and went and scored.

“He said when the game finished: ‘Coach, I saw the videos, and I scored like that’.

“It is important for him, and the team also, because it put us in the game and then we scored the second goal. It is a big victory for us.”

The goals were Neave’s first in the Championship since joining on loan from Newcastle United and helped Wolves replicate their dramatic comeback victory at Burnley in their previous away fixture.

Peixoto could barely hide his delight after seeing his side extend their unbeaten run to five games, although the dramatic nature of the victory had clearly taken its toll.

He added: “It was not good for my heart! I think we deserved the win. In the first 30 minutes we created a lot of situations, but didn’t decide to do the best thing.

“It was an amazing goal from Bristol to take the lead. At half-time we spoke with the team, they understood what the game needed and they had soul, were more aggressive, more direct, attacked the spaces, and that is what the game needed.

“With the players from the bench, they pushed the team to the end. The players from the bench were very, very important. They had the right mentality.

“We went with two strikers, we had two wingers to cross and tried to put all of the players with attacking characteristics to try and score, and we scored the two goals!

“We deserved the win. It was difficult, we could win more comfortably, but Bristol are a good team.”
