GBBO judge and esteemed chef Prue Leith recently joined  Nick Grimshaw and Angela Hartnett on the Dish podcast. She spoke with the presenters about Alison’s arrival on the show.

She expressed her support to the brummie TV legend, saying: “I feel I’m really glad Alison’s coming, because at least she’s a woman and she’ll be a little more sensible.

“I never get the jokes, all this stuff about innuendo and things.Well, those three men, they’re like three children. You say sausage and everybody always does laughter.”

The hosts responded by jokingly pointing out Alison is not always the most sensible person in the room. Hartnett said: “I’m not sure about that, we know Alison.”

Season 14 of the Great British Bake Off hosted by Alison Hammond and Noel Fielding is expected to be back on our screens this September. Ian Katz, Channel 4’s Chief Content Officer commended the new co-host, saying: “Alison is much loved, effortlessly funny and the owner of the best laugh in Britain".

The This Morning presenter will replace Matt Lucas, who joined the Bake Off crew in 2017. He bid farewell to the show in an Instagram post, writing: “Farewell Bake Off! It’s been a delicious experience and I can’t imagine a more fun way of spending my summers.”

Noel Fielding, co-host of the show, responded with a heart warming message: “Totally respect your decision matt! But I will miss your spark in the tent and I will miss you channelling other characters at the drop of a hat like your brilliant Boris Johnson.”
