Alison Hammond announces ITV’s This Morning and Coronation Street will crossover for King Charles III’s coronation

Birmingham’s own Alison Hammond will take to our screens this May to host a unique party for the King’s Coronation

Alison Hammond has announced that ITV’s This Morning will be teaming up with soap opera Coronation Street for a special episode.

The TV presenter, 48, from Birmingham, made the announcement live from the iconic Corrie Cobbles on Monday.

She excitedly read out a formal invitation to the viewers, saying: “You are cordially invited to attend This Morning’s Coronation Street party. Join us from 10am on Friday the 5th of May as we celebrate the coronation of King Charles III.”

The street party will take place on none other than Coronation Street, as ITV will merge the nationwide-loved soap with their popular breakfast show, This Morning. The live broadcast will air for 150 minutes on ITV1 on Friday morning.

Alison took to Instagram to update her over 1 million followers today after the initial announcement on Monday.

She racked up over 9,000 likes on a snap taken alongside two members of the soap’s cast.

One fan wrote: “We all love coronation Street lovely photo Alison ❤️❤️”

Another commented: “Absolutely amazing news what exciting opportunity for King Charles III coronation and to celebrate live on Corrie cobbles, I will definitely be watching.”

Alongside Alison, presenting the special show will be Britain’s treasured presenter, Dermot O’Leary.

“He’ll be doing his dancing outside the Rovers [Inn],” exclaimed Alison.

Dermot O’Leary said: "I cannot think of a more iconic way to spend a Friday hosting with Alison and delivering a show like this ahead of the King’s coronation. We will definitely be bringing the party to Manchester that day!"

Alison Hammond said: "I literally cannot wait to be back visiting those cobbles again. I always have such a great time with the Coronation Street team and to be there with our This Morning team this time for such a special occasion will be epic!

“Literally, we’re bringing the show to Coronation Street. This is amazing.”

Iain MacLeod, Coronation Street Series Producer, added: “It seems totally fitting to have daytime royalty, teaming up with soap royalty to celebrate actual royalty and we can’t wait to join Alison, Dermot and the team in raising a pint of Newton and Ridley to His Majesty in the Rovers Return."
