Alison Beer was on the programme to share her tips, when she began talking about energy bills.

Alice recommended taking regular metre readings, when Alison made a comment that upset This Morning fans.

Alison told the programme: “I get scared to do the metre readings, I’m not going to lie because I feel like it’s going to go up.” And Dermot agreed with her.

The comments were quick to upset viewers, who took to Twitter to share their outrage at the remark and the segment itself.

The This Morning presenter has become a regular household name in the last few years with her appearances across a variety of programmes and just last month was announced as the latest co-host of The Great British Bake-Off.

One fan on Twitter said: “Cannot believe I am listening to three millionaires on #ThisMorning trying to tell the rest of us how to save money and that ‘we are all in the same boat’. No we are not! Wonder when any of these three had to worry about whether they could afford to pay a bill or their mortgage”

With another user writing: “Alison is "Scared" to read her metres...yeah what a load of Bullsh*te ! #ThisMorning”

Another user also called out Alison, Tweeting: “Why would you be scared to read your gas meter”.

On Friday night (31 March), Alison opened up to Joe Lycett about how she doesn’t have to pay for parking at the Bullring.

The show, which is filmed in Digbeth, paid tribute to many areas of Birmingham, including Big John’s in Erdington and Joe’s Corner Shop in Kingsheath.

During the programme, Alison let slip about her free parking at the Bullring that can save her up to £25 per visit.

However, despite her free parking, Alison did reveal that she does donate money to charity as she leaves the car park.

She also opened up about how she received the perk, saying: “I went to this party in Birmingham, and my friend, one of her managers, works at the Bullring. I was going: ‘So do you get any perks working at the Bullring?’

“He went: ‘Well actually I get free parking’”.

Alison then also told guests Alan Carr and Joanna Lumley: “How good is that?” before adding: “And then on the way out, I give a little bit of money to charity, because I do feel bad about not paying.”

Comedian, Alan Carr then branded the new Bake-Off co-host’s claims as bulls*** as the audience laughed.

Alison was quick to respond with: “Don’t be jealous. I’m the Queen of Birmingham babes, what can I do?”
