She was also congratulated by Dermot on her work trip to LA, where she visited Universal Studio for a feature on next week’s This Morning.

“But the most important thing is…” Dermot said whilst Alison looked very confused.

Dermot continued: “ I can’t believe this but congratulations are in order …go for it..”

The sound of wedding bells began to chime as he spoke.

“Oh Alison I can’t believe you didn’t tell us you’re gonna get married this is amazing. I read it in the paper, oh I think I might have leaked it to the paper anyway...”

Alison told the team to “cut the music”  as she explained to him that “it’s fake news, babes I’m not engaged and I’m so sorry I’m not engaged.”

Earlier this week, it was reported that Alison and English gardener Ben Hawkins were engaged. According to the Express, Ben’s father said the couple: “have proposed to one another"

Alison said: “I told you whenever I’m engaged or getting married I’d be the first one to tell you. I’d put it all over the grams, I’d put it on TikTok, you know what I’m like I’d do a reel”

She continued: “Do you know what I mean, I’d be all over it. There’d be a ring babe. I’m sorry it’s fake news.”

Dermot, holding his head and looking shocked, joked: “ But I’ve bought several hats, I was looking forward to escorting someone down the aisle and giving you away.”

Alison added: “You never know one day it might happen, sorry babes.” and confirmed again it was “fake news.

Viewers took to social media to share their shock over the news. One person commented: “Ohh ok, they caught me out with Alison’s engagement.”

Another wrote: “Gutted dot com..Fake news grrr.”

A third added: “What the hell.”

Alison is set to appear on this Saturday’s Ant and Dec’s Saturday Night Takeaway as the show returns. The duo prank the TV presenter by sending her to a haunted house, but the show was nearly thrown into chaos as Alison at first refused to stay at the hotel.
