The first episode of the live chat show by fellow Brummie star Joe Lycett was a triumph with so many Birmingham landmarks - large and small - getting a mention with guests Joanna Lumley, Alan Carr, Katherine Ryan and Alison.
The show was filmed at Digbeth’s new creative hub, The Bond, which used to be the HP Sauce warehouse and has its own canal wharf.
The show regularly linked live to Joe’s corner shop in Kings Heath - which got a new assistant, with actress Claire Sweeney behind the till - and Alan paid homage to Big John’s fish and chip shop in Erdington, where he told of his fond memories of takeaway’s heart shaped pizzas on Valentine’s Day.

Hide AdAmid the hilarity Alison let slip that she gets free parking at the Bullring - with the barriers popping up as soon as it sees her number plate with screen showing the words “Queen of Birmingham” as she enters.
It’s a fitting tribute to the talented star who started out as a contestant on reality TV show Big Brother. And it’s clear that Alison really appreciates the gesture as she added: “I always give the money I’ve saved to charity.”
But not everything went so smoothly on Late Night Lycett, which also featred Joe’s two aunties. The show ended with comedian Katherine Ryan stranded on a barge.
Apparently it became unmoored during the show before Katherine got a chance to join Joe in the studio. She was filmed calling out to Joe, and seemed think she was on a river.
