It’s been over four and a half years since Alison Hammond, 48, accidentally pushed a man into the River Mersey. The incident took place during a live weather broadcast for an episode of ITV’s This Morning

As the Eurovision Song Contest gets underway in Liverpool, fans of the brummie presenter are visiting the ‘iconic spot’ at the Royal Albert Dock. A picture of the scene posted to Twitter by a user by the name @xylottie has amassed over 80,000 views and received thousands of likes.

A fellow Alison Hammond fan replied to the picture, saying: “I’m not even joking when I say this is the first place I wanna visit when I get to Liverpool 😩 (and I WILL be making the same joke as everyone else has)”.

Another user added: “@UNESCO how do we make this a world heritage site?”

The river incident isn’t the only Alison-related topic on the minds of Eurovision fans however. Many speculated that the This Morning presenter would unveil the points for the UK. It would have meant Alison would take the place of AJ Odudu who took on the task in 2022. Odudu was recently announced as a presenter for the upcoming season of Big Brother, a role many Alison fans felt she was better suited for.

A tweet from famed UK broadcaster Scott Bryan regarding the matter has caused a stir on social media. It reads: “The BBC has still not announced who will be announcing our points at Eurovision. Who would you pick?”

Amongst shouts for Nigella Lawson, and a return for AJ Odudu, flocks of fans campaigned their wishes for the new Great British Bake Off presenter to make her first Eurovision cameo.

One fan responded to the Tweet, writing: “The obvious choice would be @AlisonHammond”.

Another Alison supporter added: “@AlisonHammond is the only correct answer”.

A third user said: “@AlisonHammond without a doubt she would be great”.

However, the chosen presenter has been named as comedian Catherine Tate.
