West Brom steal Juventus star that was 'one step away' from joining QPR

West Brom are expected to wrap up the signing of Gianluca Frabotta this week.
According to Gianluca Di Marzio, a reporter for Sky Sports in Italy, the Baggies have 'overtaken' QPR to sign the Juventus man. Frabotta will join on a free transfer but there will reportedly be a 20% future resale clause in the contract. He will sign a three-year deal at the Hawthorns with terms already agreed, and a medical will take place today before he signs his contract.

Hide AdLast week Football Italia said that QPR were 'one step away' from signing Frabotta but needed to finalise an exit for Kenneth Paal. Paal remains a player at Loftus Road and now West Brom have swooped in for a player that will act as a replacement for Conor Townsend who was sold to Ipswich Town for a reported £750,000.
The 25-year-old had two years remaining on his deal in Turin, but Juventus were happy to let him leave as he has not featured in their plans. Since joining the club in 2019, he's been limited to just 18 appearances. He's since had loan spells with Hellas Verona, Lecce, Frosinone, Bari and Cosenza.
According to West Brom transfer insider @EyaWeGew, another player will arrive for a medical today. The identity of the player has not been revealed, but they will be joining on the loan, however it is not Mikey Johnston, who was at the club on loan from Celtic last season. Manager Carlos Corberan apparently wanted two players in before the trip to QPR, and it looks like he might get his wish.
As for players at the club, Grady Diangana is planned to be back on the grass towards the end of the week. He sustained a calf injury at the start of July and has been out for several weeks, missing their majority of their pre-season schedule.
