Paddy McNair ‘happy’ to have joined West Brom

Paddy McNair has joined West Brom on loan from San Diego FC in the MLS - in his first interview with the club, the 29-year-old has said he is ‘happy’ to have made the jump to the Midlands. Previously, McNair has featured for clubs such as Sunderland, Middlesbrough and Manchester United. He is also a Northern Irish international, having won 69 caps for the Green and White Army.

On joining the Baggies, McNair mused in an interview on their official club website: “West Bromwich Albion is a very good club and one I’ve always admired. I know a lot of lads who have played here in the past and they’ve all said good things about it. I’m really happy to be here. I’ve played in the Championship for the last seven years so I’ve got a lot of experience in this division.”

Meanwhile, head coach Carlos Corberan said: “We’re very pleased to have signed Paddy and we welcome him to our club. He is a player who has a lot of experience in this league with Sunderland and Middlesbrough. He’s played just under 350 career matches and he’ll add a lot of maturity and quality to our squad. He is capable of playing in a number of different positions which will be really helpful for us and really important in a league as demanding as the Championship.”

Leeds United have ‘joined the race’ for Norwich City’s Gabriel Sara

Leeds United have been linked with a move for Norwich City forward Gabriel Sara, according to a recent report from Italian outlet Corriere dello Sport.

Of course, Leeds aren’t the only club who are keen to seal a deal for Sara this summer. Premier League outfits such as Leicester City and Crystal Palace have been linked, as have Galatasaray and Atalanta.

Sara enjoyed a wonderful season in the Championship for the Canaries last season. He played in all 46 league games for Norwich, scoring 13 goals and notching up 12 assists along the way - he also racked up a goal and an assist in the FA Cup.

Such goal-scoring prowess, combined with his creative influence, make him a particularly coveted player. Only five players registered more combined goals and assists in the second tier of English football last season - one of them was Leeds ace Crysencio Summerville
