While this is going on, Swansea City are ‘ready’ to put forth an offer for an Aberdeen youngster, following reports that he has snubbed a move to Rangers in the Scottish Premiership - he also reportedly did not explore a potential move to Aston Villa.

West Brom receive boost on status of Brandon Thomas-Asante

There has been tension in the Baggies camp over the past few weeks, as star striker Brandon Thomas-Asante had been linked with a move to recently promoted Southampton. However, according to a recent report from TEAMtalk, it now looks as though the Saints may be looking elsewhere to strengthen their attacking ranks.

Instead of Thomas-Asante, Russell Martin’s men will instead pursue a move for former Sheffield United and Blackburn Rovers striker Ben Brereton-Diaz. He is struggling for game time at his current club, Villareal - furthermore, the Chilean international is thought to be keen on the idea of a return to the Premier League.

Thomas-Asante led a modest campaign in the Championship last season for West Brom. The former Salford City man scored 11 goals and notched up two assists over the course of 39 league games - at 25 years of age, his best years are still yet to come. Previously, he had also been linked with a move to Leeds United. Meanwhile, Brereton-Diaz made 14 Premier League appearances last season while on loan at Sheffield United. During this time, he scored six goals and notched up a solitary assist along the way.

Swansea ‘ready’ to make offer for Aberdeen’s Kevin Hanratty

Swansea City are readying to make an ‘offer’ for Aberdeen starlet Kevin Hanratty, according to a report from Football Insider. Previously, he had been linked with a move to both Aston Villa and Rangers - however, the Dons turned down approaches from both of these clubs.

Recently, he has been training with Swansea as they ponder whether to make an official move for the player. It is thought that he has impressed coaches at the club, as they are now willing to sign him on a permanent basis.

At the age of 21, Hanratty’s best years are still well ahead of him. He has not made a senior team appearance for Aberdeen, but he has played on several occasions for their B team - he also made a handful of appearances for Scotland’s U16s and U17s team, scoring a solitary goal on the international stage.

His time at the Dons was largely characterised by loan moves away from the club. He spent time at outfits such as Forfar Athletic, Cove Rangers and Formartine
