Wolves have taken the decision to keep hold of one of their players for the time being despite receiving a transfer approach.

Wolves have reportedly rejected a bid from Norwich City for defender Hugo Bueno.

According to Fraser Gillan, a football correspondent for TEAMtalk, an approach was made by the Canaries to sign Bueno on a loan deal. Norwich were ‘keen’ to bring him in, but Wolves have rejected that approach.

Under contract until the summer of 2028, Bueno has made 48 appearances to date for the Wolves first team since his arrival two years ago. He played in 25 games in all competitions last term, earning seven league starts. His performances for Wolves last season earned him his first international appearance, as he was capped for the Spanish under-21 team in November.

The defender was signed in 2022 from Spanish side CD Areosa for just £3,000, and he has turned out to be a real astute piece of transfer business. His value on TransferMarkt is €6.00m, and that would represent a vast profit if Wolves were to ever cash in.

The vast majority of the squad have travelled Stateside for Wolves' pre-season tour of the United States. Bueno was out with the squad in Marbella, and has been included in the squad for the USA trip. Only a handful of players have been left behind with some sorting out their futures whilst others are still not back for pre-season following an extended campaign.

Dexter Lembikisa and Joe Hodge were left behind as Wolves explore loan deals for them. Jimmy Storer, Wes Okoduwa and Nigel Lonwijk haven't travelled either. Jose Sa, Nelson Semedo, Pedro Neto and Joao Gomes will link up half way through the US tour as they are afforded a rest following their involvement at the Copa America and EURO 2024.
