West Brom are in discussions with a Championship rival over the possible sale of one of their star players.

Hull City vice-chairman Tan Kesler has confirmed that West Brom midfielder Okay Yokuslu is a transfer target for them.

Speculation has been rife about the future of Yokuslu, who has been subject of transfer interest both in England and in his native Turkey. Besiktas had interest, but they confirmed that a chance of a move was 'zero' whilst Trabzonspor had been keen on a reunion with the player they sold in 2018.

The Tigers are now in pole position to sign Yokuslu, however no official bid has been made yet. Hull are in talks with the Baggies over a possible deal, and the latter are holding out for a financial package that would suit them, but the Humberside club don't want to break the bank to sign him.

"He's one on our target list, but we're just talking," said Kesler to Hull Live.

"West Brom have some ambitions to get for him, financially. So if it fits, yes, why not, he could be one of the names (City sign), but if the financials are not right there is no need for us to go and invest and leverage ourselves."

The 30-year-old is currently on holiday after representing Turkey at EURO 2024. He will use the time he has free to decide whether a move to the MKM Stadium is the best for his career.

Yokuslu has one year remaining on his contract, but despite that a £5m fee has been spoken about. He was a key member of Carlos Corberan's team last season, and played in 48 games across four competitions last term.

In other news, The Sun has reported that a transfer approach has been made for Huddersfield Town's Sorba Thomas. A deal seems unlikely however as the Terriers have placed a fee on the Wales international that WBA aren't willing to pay.

French side FC Nantes are said to have made an offer of £1m for Thomas, and are hoping to wrap up the deal shortly. The 25-year-old is under contract at the John Smith's Stadium until the summer of 2026 and is expected to leave following their relegation from the Championship, but the Yorkshire outfit want to recoup as much as they can so they can reinvest in to the playing squad.

Thomas, capped eight times for the Welsh national team, has been at Huddersfield for the last three years. He made 42 appearances in all competitions last season, creating nine goals whilst also getting on the score sheet four times.

In the 2022/23 season, Thomas had a brief loan spell with Blackburn Rovers. Thomas in total has 131 games of Championship football under his belt with 29 assists and seven goals.
