West Brom: Carlos Corberan and Baggies snubbed for Championship award

West Brom have been nominated for one award but the Baggies should have been put forward for more at the EFL dinner in April.

West Brom have been nominated for the Community Club of the Year category at the 2023/24 awards.

The Baggies have been recognised for their efforts among their supporters and the local community. They are up against Charlton Athletic in League One and Swindon Town in League Two.

In terms of on the pitch, Carlos Corberan has been snubbed in the Manager of the Year category. The three bosses to have earned a nomination are Daniel Farke, who has Leeds United second in the division. Ipswich Town’s Kieran McKenna is also up for the gong with the Tractor Boys on course to earn back to back promotions having only been promoted from League One last year.

The surprise inclusion is Liam Rosenior, who is the manager of Hull City. The Tigers are currently 10th and one of the Baggies' rivals for a play-off spot. They are ten points behind West Brom however they do have a game in hand. They are six points off of Norwich City, despite recruiting well in the January transfer window.

It is perhaps harsh on Corberan who has had to work with free transfers and loan signings this season. His side are on course to play in the end of season play-offs, however on this occasion he has not been recognised for his efforts.

There is still an opportunity for West Brom to win an award that will be decided on the night however. The Goal of the Season will be announced, as well as the Team of the Year.

Despite the season not finishing until Saturday, May 5, the winners of each category announced at the annual ceremony in London on Sunday, April 14.
