Former West Bromwich Albion coach and interim boss Jimmy Shan has landed a new role as assistant manager at Sky Bet League Two outfit Swindon Town.

The 45-year-old, who began his coaching career at Birmingham City's academy, leaves his first-team coach job at Huddersfield Town for a new venture. Previously the holder of managerial reigns at Solihull Moors and Rochdale, Shan has been steadily building up his CV across the English Football League.

Before working with the West Brom first-team between 2018 and 2019, Shan was the Albion under-23 head coach for four years. That followed nearly a decade of working his way up through the under-7, under-18, and under-21 sides.

Shan formed a friendship with ex-Baggies manager Darren Moore at The Hawthorns and the pair have since worked together at Sheffield Wednesday and Huddersfield. A more solo path awaits, though, with Shan now eager to help Swindon avoid relegation to the National League.

The Robins, in 20th, currently have an 11-point buffer to the bottom two but there are still half a dozen fixtures left. The gaps to the likes of Salford City and Doncaster Rovers above are three points or more.
