Steven Gerrard has already signed three new players at Villa Park this month

Aston Villa have had a busy January transfer window so far with the club welcoming three new players to Villa Park.

Steven Gerrard has stamped his own mark on the squad, with former Liverpool teammate Philippe Coutinho joining on loan, as well as Lucas Digne and Robin Olsen joining the Brazilian in the Midlands.

However, if reports are to be believed, Gerrard has no intention of stopping there. The 41-year-old has been linked with several other plays during the winter window.

With that being said, let’s take a look at the five players Villa are tipped to sign this month.

Aaron Ramsey - 6/4

Wales international Aaron Ramsey could become the second player with that name to be under contract at the club if he seals a move to Villa Park this month.

The midfielder, who is currently out of favour at Juventus, is no stranger to the Premier League, having played for Arsenal in England’s top-flight.

Ramsey would add competition for places at Villa, with John McGinn, Douglas Luiz, Marvelous Nakamba and Jacob Ramsey all fighting for places in the starting 11.

Ryan Kent - 2/1

Ryan Kent was one of Gerrard’s key players during the latter’s reign at Rangers, with the winger’s performances one of several factors to the Glaswegian club lifting the Scottish Premiership last season.

The 25-year-old has been tipped to be on his way to Villa Park since Gerrard’s arrival in the Midlands, however, reports suggest he won’t be making his way down south this month.

Last month The Athletic’s Gregg Evans during a Q&A said: “I’m pretty sure it’s a no to Kent.”

Luis Suarez - 5/1

Former Liverpool striker Luis Suarez is another name linked with a move to Villa during the winter window. The Uruguay international is a ex-teammate of Gerrard’s at the Merseyside club.

A bet on a reunion between Suarez and the Villa boss would be a waste of time and money if the latter’s recent comments are to be believed.

Gerrard has recently shut down the rumours saying: “We’re not after a centre forward in this window. That’s as clear as I can be.

“I know Luis extremely well. He’s a world-class footballer, but we’re not after adding a centre forward, whether it be Luis or anyone else.”

Alfredo Morelos - 9/1

Another former player of Gerrard’s at Rangers to be rumoured with a move to Villa Park this month is Alfredo Morelos.

The Colombian has been prolific for the Scottish club since his arrival, netting 107 goals in 212 appearances.

However, if the previous comments by Gerrard are anything to go by, don’t expect to see Morelos in the Midlands anytime soon.

Gini Wijnaldum - 9/1

The fifth name to be tipped to join Villa during the January transfer window is Paris-Saint Germain midfielder Gini Wijnaldum.

Another player who has worn the red of Liverpool but also the black and white of Newcastle United, Wijnaldum would add even more quality to Gerrard’s side.

The Dutchman is said to be unhappy in the French capital and a return to the Premier League looks likely.

However, Villa face stiff competition from Arsenal, Tottenham Hotspur and Newcastle United.
