However, Steven Gerrard’s side are yet to make a formal offer for the Uruguay international.

The 24-year-old has made 181 appearances for Juventus since joining them from Boca Juniors in 2017, scoring three goals and assisting his teammates on 18 occasions.
Bentancur also has 45 caps for the Uruguay national team, making his debut in October 2017.

In terms of outgoings, John McGinn has been linked with a move to Manchester United this month, however, a potential deal for the midfielder would likely occur in the summer.
Former Villa striker Kevin Phillips believes if the Red Devils ‘come calling’ then the Scottish international would want to leave Villa Park.
Speaking to Football Insider, the 48-year-old said: “It’s such a tough one.
“As much as I wouldn’t want him to leave, it’s hard. As I’ve always said before, when someone like that comes calling, I think the player would want to go.

“When they come knocking – you’ve just got to think: ‘Am I going to get another opportunity to play for Man United?’
“The answer for McGinn would probably be no.
“I hope he does stay because he looks happy playing under Steven Gerrard. I think the only way you keep him if United do come in is the lure of playing for Gerrard.”
If United want to seal McGinn’s signature then it would cost at least £40m as per The Telegraph, with Villa valuing the midfielder highly.
