One of Birmingham City’s summer transfer exit has landed on his feet.

Former Birmingham City midfielder Ivan Sunjic has had his next move confirmed after leaving the club this summer.

Sunjic, signed for a reported £6.3m in the 2019 summer transfer window, departed St Andrew's after his contract wasn't extended. He played 40 games in all competitions, but following Blues' relegation from the Championship, he was never likely to remain after spending a majority of his career in top-flight leagues.

During his six years that he was contracted to Birmingham, Sunjic made 183 appearances for Blues in total. He was sent out on loan to Hertha BSC in the 2022/23 season, but returned and became a key feature under the various different managers last season before the club announced that he would be one of six first-team players to depart.

A return to Croatia had been spoken about but the 27-year-old has opted for a move to Cyprus. He has joined a club that finished fifth in the Cypriot First Division last season, and won the Cypriot Cup.

Sunjic's move to the Stelios Kyriakides Stadium was confirmed earlier this week, and he joins a club that are hoping to be competing in the UEFA Conference League group stages. They overturned a 2-1 deficit to win 4-2 on aggregate against Lithuanian side FK Zalgiris and have progressed to the third qualifying round.

Up next for Pafos is Bulgarian side FC CSKA 1948 Sofia, and they will play them away on Thursday, August 8 before hosting the return leg a week later. If there are no hiccups with his registration then he could make his debut for his new side next week.

Pafos are managed by Spaniard Juan Carlos Carcedo who was once the assistant manager at Arsenal and PSG to Unai Emery. Former Blackburn Rovers boss Henning Berg has managed them previously as well as ex-Hearts defender Steven Pressley and Cameron Toshack who was a coach at Swansea City.
