Birmingham City will be looking to bring in some new players this summer

Birmingham City are back in the Championship and have the chance to bring in some new players this summer. Chris Davies will be looking to add some more quality to his squad over the coming months. The Blues have won the League One title this season at the first time of asking.

They were relegated from the second tier 12 months ago after they finished in the bottom three. Going down has helped them get back into the winning habit though. They are now carrying some strong momentum as they head into the next campaign.

As Blues fans look eagerly ahead to what should be a hectic summer transfer window with plenty of new faces arriving at St. Andrew’s, we asked AI to predict all of the club’s upcoming signings. Here was the response...

Birmingham City defensive and midfield signings predicted by AI

Nathan Wood, Southampton. The 22-year-old defender has struggled for regular game time since his £3million move to Southampton last year. He joined the Saints from Swansea City but his move hasn’t worked out in the end. A change of scene could do him good and AI believes he could be on Birmingham’s radar.

Charlie Cresswell, Toulouse. He rose up through Leeds United’s academy and was a regular for them at various different youth levels. The centre-back moved over to France 12 months ago when Toulouse came calling. If the Blues were to land him, he would boost their defensive ranks.

Will Smallbone, Southampton. The ex-Stoke City loan man played a key role in Southampton’s promotion to the Premier League under Russell Martin in May 2024. However, they have suffered an immediate relegation back to the Football League and his future could be up in the air now. He would be an eye-catching signing for Davies’ side if they were able to get him.

Birmingham City attacking signings predicted by AI

Che Adams, Torino. He has been linked with a move back to Birmingham and getting him back would be a statement of intent. The attacker left Southampton when his contract expired in June last year to move over to Italy. He has since scored nine goals for Torino, eight of which have come in Serie A.

Nathan Redmond, Burnley . The winger is likely to leave Burnley in the near future for a new challenge elsewhere. Like Adams, he has also been on the books of the Blues in the past and AI seems to think he could end up going back there. Redmond would be a useful player to have in and around the dressing room and would inject experience into their ranks.

Josh Coburn, Middlesbrough. Middlesbrough have a decision to make on what to do with him in the upcoming window. He has spent time away from the Riverside Stadium at Millwall to get some experience under his belt. The forward would give Birmingham another option to pick from up front and he has a lot of potential. Millwall boss Alex Neil has said that he wants him to stay: “We would obviously like to try to keep him here beyond where we are now. He is six foot three, mobile, has good movement in the box and technically equipped. They are great traits to have.”
