'Watch this space' - ex-Leeds star drops exciting Birmingham City transfer prediction amid Che Adams links

Birmingham City are in the hunt for some high quality new signings this summer

Birmingham City have bounced back from their relegation from the Championship last year in impressive style. They have stormed to the League One title this season and have smashed the English points tally record. Chris Davies’ side have been joined in the top two by fellow ambitious side Wrexham.

The Blues turned to Davies just over 12 months ago and he arrived as a bit of an unknown quantity. Prior to his move, he had worked as the number two with the likes of Celtic, Leicester City and Tottenham Hotspur. He has since made a decent reputation for himself.

Birmingham City transfer prediction shared by David Prutton

Birmingham have the chance to bring in some new players this summer. They also have the opportunity to let some individuals head out the exit door when the next window opens for business. It is important they are prepared for the step up a league.

Former Football League player David Prutton, who is now a pundit, has delivered his verdict on the Blues’ plans for the next few months, as per a report by Football League World: "The devastation that came with them dropping out of the division has been well and truly blown apart by how good they've been in League One, how they've managed to re-tool, how they've managed to build their squad up.

"Yes, I think there's different financial stipulations with regards to how the Championship is operated, but yeah, they're coming up and gunning for a blast through this division. It'll be tough, just because they were so good in League One doesn't mean to say that automatically translates into Championship success, but they will be a coveted club for people to join, they will be able to pay very good wages and attract very good players. So, with Birmingham City, I'd say watch this space."

Birmingham City linked with Che Adams transfer

According to Football Insider, Birmingham are keen on bringing back Che Adams. The striker is currently on the books of Torino in Serie A. However, he is now being linked with a shock return to the Midlands.

Adams, 28, moved to Italy last year and has adapted well to life in his new country. He has scored nine goals in all competitions in this campaign, eight of which have come in the league. The forward may well return to England soon though and he would add more quality to the Blues’ front-line if they were able to snap him up.

The Leicester-born Scotland international made his name at Sheffield United from 2014 to 2016 after rising up through non-league. Birmingham then took a punt on him and he became a key player for them up top. He went on to score 38 goals in 123 games altogether.

Southampton came calling in 2019 and lured him up to the Premier League. The forward found the net on 49 occasions in 191 outings for the Saints. He helped them get promoted from the Football League last year but decided to leave afterwards for a new experience overseas.
