West Brom boss pleased with bright Tammer Bany cameo and makes squad vow
Head coach James Morrison was full of praise for an unfamiliar face on Tuesday night after Albion’s attacker grasped a rare opportunity against Southampton.
James Morrison praised the midweek impact of Tammer Bany on a rare outing - as he stressed he needed all his Albion squad.
Jordan international attacker Bany has featured from the bench against West Ham and Southampton this week, his only Championship outings of the season so far.
The 23-year-old was particularly bright in 10 minutes against the Saints on Tuesday, where he created an opening for fellow substitute Aune Heggebo and sent a decent chance wide.
It was a lively cameo for the attacking midfielder, who has endured a very frustrating two years at The Hawthorns.
“I was thinking Barney (Stewart) or Tammer,” Morrison admitted after the 1-1 Southampton draw.
“I just felt Tammer with his energy and a little bit unpredictability, and he can beat a player.
“He had that chance. We probably would have liked him to shift it on his left and shoot with his left because the defender gave him space.
“Then he made the chance for Bo (Aune Heggebo). So I’ve got no complaints. You look at a team there going for the win. They did as well. A point was a fair result.”
Morrison’s options have become fewer ahead of a well-timed international break from this weekend, after Albion welcome Millwall on Saturday.
Skipper George Campbell limped off against the Saints, with Kareem Tunde (foot) joining Toby Collyer and Mikey Johnston as absentees. It left the hosts with a couple of untested teens on the bench in Matty Crowther and Rio Parmar.

“You’ve got to respect as well how hard it is sometimes to come on to the pitch, and he was full of action,” Morrison added of Bany.
“I’ve been in that situation, your legs are like jelly because he was sprinting up and down getting the ball.
“He’s deserved it through his training. He’s been really good in training.
“Yes (he can feature more) but I’m going to need all of the squad. You see on Tuesday how thin we are. Kareem (Tunde) got a knock to his foot and couldn’t make it.
“We’ve only got four injuries and there were two young lads on the bench. Look at the likes of who they were bringing on, physicality coming on. We’ve got to remember who we played against, their squad size, and we gave them a really good game.”
