Birmingham City earned a 2-1 win over Wigan Athletic on Saturday afternoon.

A stoppage time goal from new signing Scott Wright was enough to snatch all three points for Birmingham City as they piled the pressure on Wigan Athletic late on into their latest League One clash. The Blues dealt a huge blow to the Latics, who had been sure they would come away with at least a point from their battle at St Andrew’s.

After a very busy summer transfer window, Birmingham returned to league action and extended their undefeated streak. Alfie May opened up the scoring after just 18 minutes thanks to good play between Christoph Klarer and Willum Willumsson.

The Blues held their lead into the break and beyond, before Wigan’s Thelo Aasgaard worked back a hard-fought equaliser. With nine minutes added on, Birmingham threw everything into their push for a winner and sure enough, it was Wright who bagged the golden moment.

The winger signed for his new side on Deadline Day from Rangers, for a fee believed to be in the region of £300,000.
