Birmingham City confirm loan of hot prospect to League One rivals

Romelle Donovan, one of Birmingham’s hottest prospects, has sealed a season-long move to fellow League One side Burton Albion.

It’s been quite the day for the attacking midfielder, who was this morning called up to the England Under-19 squad for a series of upcoming international friendlies in Croatia.

Donovan, still merely 17 years of age, made his senior Blues breakthrough under former manager Wayne Rooney. The emerge of the wonderkid was probably one of the only positives of the Manchester United’s short reign at St Andrew’s @ Knighthead Park.

Capable of playing on either flank or through the centre, Donovan has been in and around the first-team setup for just over a year. The Englishman made his Championship debut under Rooney in the last few minutes of the 2-0 home defeat to Hull City.

Donovan, who has made seven appearances for Birmingham and accumulated 213 minutes in total, is excited by the prospect of regular senior football at Burton. The Brewers have drawn two and lost one of their opening three League One matches this term and face Northampton Town on Saturday.
