Birmingham City man labelled 'instinctive goalscorer' by former Aston Villa man as promotion rivals Wycombe Wanderers dealt injury blow
Birmingham City have been in League One action this weekend
Birmingham City won 1-0 at home to Lincoln City on Saturday afternoon. Kieran Dowell scored a second-half penalty as they ran out winners.
The Blues have 12 fixtures left to play this season as they look to get over the line. They remain top of the League One table ahead of the likes of Wycombe Wanderers and Wrexham.
Chris Davies’ side are back in action on Tuesday against Stevenage on their own patch again. The Midlands outfit then face an away trip to Sixfields next Saturday to play Northampton Town.
Birmingham City’s Jay Stansfield hailed

Birmingham star Jay Stansfield has been backed to play in the Premier League by former Aston Villa man Lee Hendrie in the future. The 22-year-old made his move to the Blues permanent last summer following his loan spell from Fulham.
He has scored 20 goals in 30 games in all competitions so far this season, 16 of which have come in the league. Ex-top flight player Hendrie has delivered his verdict on the forward and has said, as per Football League World “Yeah, I actually do think Jay Stansfield will and can certainly be comfortable in the Premier League. I think he's got the right traits and the right attitude. Comes from good stock, obviously, and he's still a young man, 22 years of age, with that hunger and desire to really go and show that he's well worthy.
“He's doing it in League One with Birmingham City, he has done it the season before in the Championship with Birmingham where he’s scored goals as well. So, I do think he has that ability to certainly step up and play in the Premier League, and I think he's had a taste of obviously two tough divisions, but he's proved that he's one of them who’s a very instinctive goalscorer.
“He gets himself around the pitch in that forward line, so I do think that he can make that step up. I think sometimes you have to take a step back to go forward, and I think that's what has certainly happened with him, where he's gone out and learn his trade, and I think he'll get stronger, and he'll get better as a young player, and that's why I think he can make that step up.”
Wycombe Wanderers injury blow
2nd place Wycombe have been dealt a blow with Dan Harvie ruled out for the rest of this term. The left-back will be sidelined until the summer which isn’t ideal for the Chairboys as they look to go up with Birmingham.
Their manager Mike Dodds, who joined from Sunderland following Matt Bloomfield’s exit to Luton Town, has said: “The last prognosis we had was that we’re waiting for the swelling to go down and he’s waiting to go to a specialist. It’s unlikely we’ll see him again this season. It might be a push but we have to wait and see with that swelling and see what they say. In my head, I think we’ll next see him in pre-season.”
