Aston Villa are ‘keeping tabs’ on Chelsea midfielder Conor Gallagher according to reports.

The England international, who spent last season on loan at the West London club’s Premier League rivals, Crystal Palace, has many suitors with ‘a number’ of top flight teams, as well as Villa, keeping an eye on his status.

At just 22-years-old, Gallagher has his best years ahead of him and BirminghamWorld football reporter believes the midfielder would be ‘a very good bit of business’ for the Villans.

He played 39 times in all competitions for Patrick Vieira’s side last season scoring eight goals and providing five assists and there’s no doubt Vieira will be keen for a reunion at Selhurst Park, too.

Will Chelsea let Gallagher leave?

After more than proving his worth at Premier League level last term, there appears to be a very realistic chance that Thomas Tuchel wants to keep Gallagher around at Stamford Bridge.

The German manager has already stated that all of the Blues’ returning loanees including Armando Broja and Levi Colwill will be ‘looked at’ in the early stages of pre-season before a decision is made.

“I want to have them in pre-season, and we will decide in pre-season what goes on,” he stated in a recent interview.

“It is heavily up to them and how they do.”

With that said, Chelsea do appear to have a never-ending tree of young talent and they can’t keep them all. If they are to strengthen this summer, which is expected, there’s every chance they will listen to offers for the 22-year-old.

Rangers’ Rory Wilson ‘set to sign’

One signing that moves ever close for Villa is that of 16-year-old hot Scottish prospect Rory Wilson.

The teenager scored 49 goals for the Gers youth team over the course of the 2021/22 season and is edging closer to a switch to England.

Fabrizio Romano states that personal terms are now all agreed and Wilson’s signature will be confirmed on July 1.

The Villans will pay a developmental fee of just £300,000 for his services - an investment that could see quite the return in years to come.
