West Midlands rivals Aston Villa and Birmingham City both have former players linked to the vacant manager’s job at Swindon Town.
That’s according to the latest odds with BetVictor that have ex-Manchester United and England international Michael Carrick as favourite for the role in Wiltshire.
The Robins have been on the hunt for a new head coach since Ben Garner departed to join Leaue One side Charlton Athletic last week.
Delaney, who was most recently under-23’s boss with Villa was linked almost immediately to the role after leaving his position in the West Midlands following the conclusion of this season.
The former defender played a key part in the success of Villa’s youngsters during his seven-year spell and his departure, which was confirmed at the beginning of May, came as a huge shock to most.
And across the city, a cult hero of the Blues, Caddis, has also been linked to the role.
The now 34-year-old had two spells with Swindon during his career, most recently between 2019 and 2021 where he left upon expiry of his contract. He hasn’t played professionally for anyone else, since.
