Aston Villa suffer worrying injury blow during Brighton clash
There were concerning scenes as Pau Torres was substituted in the first half of Aston Villa vs Brighton & Hove Albion.
Pau only lasted 21 minutes of Villa’s Premier League clash with Brighton as he had to be replaced after sustaining an injury to his right foot.
The Spanish central defender couldn’t walk off the field unaided, instead hobbling along the touchline and down the tunnel with the help of two of Villa’s club doctors.
A vital cog in Emery’s system as the ball-playing central defender, Pau will be missed if he misses a long period. It awaits to be seen just how serious the injury is but the fact he couldn’t put weight on his right foot wasn’t a good sign.
Tyrone Mings, who himself only returned from injury a month or so ago, replaced Pau to a standing ovation from the Villa Park faithful. The 31-year-old slotted into the same position Pau had occupied, as the left centre-half alongside Diego Carlos.
