Aston Villa return to action on Monday night when they face fellow Midlanders Nottingham Forest.

Steven Gerrard’s men are not off to an ideal start, but they have been restricted due to injuries early in the season.

Nevertheless, Villa will want to kick on sooner rather than later as they look to avoid any sort of relegation battle this term.

Given the injury issues, an away point against Leeds last weekend was a good point, but a win will be expected against Nottignham Forest.

In the meantime, we have rounded up all the latest news and headlines surrounding Villa Park.

Bailey’s situation explained

Villa star Leon Bailey’s agent and adoptive father Craig Butler has opened up on the developments that played out during the summer concerning the winger.

“The coach that is at Aston Villa now was not the coach that recruited Leon,” Butler told the Jamaica Gleaner.

“That coach played wingers, he loved Leon and wanted him in. The new coach, Gerrrard, does not really play wingers but he is getting to understand the importance of the player. It’s very important that the manager likes you, wants you in his system and wants that position in his system.”

Butler continued: “I advocated strongly that if they don’t want him and they are not going to use wingers, they are to let me move him to Ajax this semester but we worked it out and he got to play.”

Locatelli race over

Villa were linked with a move for Juventus star Manuel Locatelli recently, but it seems that particular deal won’t be happening.

Locatelli was linked as a possible replacement for Douglas Luiz should the midfielder leave, while Arsenal have also been linked.

But according to football.london, Locatelli has decided to stay with Juventus after all, and he won’t be leaving the Old Lady this January.
