Aston Villa have put a £20million price-tag on young midfielder Carney Chukwuemeka with a number of high-profile teams monitoring the situation.

That’s according to talkSPORT who state Premier League rivals Manchester City and Manchester United are among the clubs keen on signing the teenager with European giants Barcelona and Borussia Dortmund also keeping tabs on him.

Chukwuemeka has had an ongoing contract dispute at Villa Park and has yet so sign the new one that was put forward to him by Steven Gerrard at the beginning of 2022.

“Carney’s yet to sign a contract offer that’s been in place for some time now,” Gerrard said of the situation during Villa’s pre-season tour of Australia, “so I’ve decided that the best thing for him would be to continue his training programme back at Bodymoor.”

The 18-year-old has just one-year left on his deal at Villa Park before he comes a free agent in the summer of 2023 and with a new contract looking increasingly unlikely - this could be the last chance the club have to cash in on the youngster.
