And we could yet see Gerrard’s squad further strengthened, with departures also expected between now and the end of the summer transfer window.

Monday brought good news with reports that Borussia Dortmund were no pushing for a move for Villa starlet Carney Chukwuemeka.

But it’s not cause for celebration just yet, with fresh reports claiming Liverpool are now considering a move.

According to The Athletic, Chukwuemeka is ‘highly thought of’ by Liverpool, so much so that he could be an alternative to Jude Bellingham, who has also been linked with a move to Anfield.

The report claims Liverpool are willing to wait until 2023 unless the right deal emerges.

But it will be concerning news for Villa in any case.

Sanson interest

Aston Villa star Morgan Sanson is said to be attracting interest this summer.

According to the Express and Star, Sanson has interest from a number of clubs this summer despite largely disappointing over the last 18 months.

The report claims Galatasaray are interested in the midfielder, who only made 19 league starts last season.

Sanson cost Villa £14million, and Villa could now get the chance to make back their money, with the Frenchman unlikely to see more minutes this season based on recent evidence.
