As the last days of June come to a close, Aston Villa are among the Premier League’s biggest spenders in this summer’s transfer window.
Four permanent signings have been made to date. Diego Carlos, Boubacar Kamara, Philippe Coutinho and Robin Olsen have all put pen to paper on deals at Villa Park with more expected over the coming weeks.
Villa are expected to have a decent pot available to them regardless of outgoings, however, if we do see players leave the club as we progress through the window, even more could be handed to Steven Gerrard as he continues to strengthen and mould this squad into one he sees fit.
In an ideal world, though, the main chunk of business will be completed within the next two weeks.
Villa jet off to Australia on July 9 for the inaugural ‘Queensland Champions Cup’ pre-season tour and this will give any new faces the chance to bed in nicely.
For now though, the claret and blue remain among the busiest clubs this window and BirminghamWorld have taken a look at transfermarkt.co.uk to see how their spending compares to their Premier League rivals.
