Alison Hammond: This Morning presenter delighted after primary school pupil enjoys her book ‘Black in Time’
Alison Hammond has retweeted a primary school student’s review of her book on “The most awesome black Britons” The This Morning presenter, 48, from Birmingham, released her book in June 2022, aiming to highlight amazing black people in British history to a young audience.
Brookfield’s Primary School shared two photos of a young girl holding Alison’s book on Twitter. The pupil recommended the book to her classmates, saying: “This is such a great book as I can read about lots of different people I know and can relate to.”

Hide AdThe school’s Twitter account went on to tell the brummie presenter that her book is a hit in their school library. Alison responded, writing: “So glad to hear it ❤️”.
Black in Time: The Most Awesome Black Britons from Yesterday to Today, has over 100 reviews on Amazon, with an overall rating of 4.4 out of five stars. The book’s blurb reads: “From sportspeople to scientists, activists to musicians, politicians to writers, we’re going to meet a whole bunch of AWESOME people who have helped shape the world we live in. So, are ready for you a journey Black in time?? Course you are, let’s go!”
Alison has since been awarded for her efforts in highlighting racism, inequality and injustice on major broadcasting platforms. The Great British Bake Off presenter won the Media Champion in the Public Eye gong at the Burberry British Diversity Awards earlier this year.
The TV legend has more recently made headlines for her antics with Prince William and Princess Kate during their visit to Birmingham. Alison played darts with the heir to the throne ahead of his father King Charles III’s Coronation.
She also spoke with Princess Kate, and rounded things off by inviting the royal couple to her house for dinner.
