The Prince and Princess of Wales were in the city to meet with local business owners and those in the creative industry at Birmingham’s Rectory bar.

Alsion explained that she wasn’t on the guest list upon arrival, so she waited around to take pictures with the locals.

To her delight, she was later told that she was on the VIP list and headed into the venue.

Alison explained what happened when she stepped inside, saying: “Kate came over and instantly she made a B-line for me.

“She was smiling, she had a beautiful red dress on.

She added: “She was saying she likes spicy cocktails, she doesn’t like sweet cocktails.”

In true Alison fashion, she invited the Princess over to her house for dinner. She also told the royal about Coronation Street’s upcoming street party to celebrate the King’s coronation.

When asked what she may wear to King Charles III’s coronation, Princess Kate told Alison: “There is a hint of blue”.

After this, Alison was asked by Kensington Palace staff to lead Prince William downstairs for a game of darts.

Alison said: “I led him down the stairs, and then on the way down the stairs I remembered I hadn’t done your royal highness or bowed, so then I bowed awkwardly on the stairs.

“Then he started giggling”

The heir to the throne, 40, told Alison to play as ‘HRH’, which of course is a title reserved for William himself.

As TV royalty and true royalty talked, they bonded over Birmingham’s Premier League football team, Aston Villa.

Alison said: “We were talking about Aston Villa, we were talking about who the kids support.”

Once they finished their game of darts and headed back upstairs, Prince William addressed his wife, saying: “Kate, Alison supports Aston Villa, she’s my best friend!”

Alison reacted to the encounter by telling This Morning viewers: “They’re just the nicest people.

“They literally lifted up the city.

She added: “It was the best day.”
