It’s one of the most glamorous locations in Birmingham which is set to host an ultra glitzy rooftop restaurant on its 24th floor.
103 Colmore Row is already home to a range of businesses, with national law firm Browne Jacobson the latest to move in.
The huge skyscraper at the end of Colmore Row, opposite Snow Hill station, features a ground floor cafe, members business club and is set to feature a garden terrace on its 18th floor for yoga classes and more.
The restaurant is being opened with global luxury restaurant and bar group D&D which owns some of the best restaurants in London, Manchester, Leeds, Paris and New York.
The group has announced that the restaurant will be open in late summer. It hasn’t revealed an exact date, but with the Commonwealth Games due to start on July 28 it may be looking to tie in with a date then.
The company is expected to make a more detailed announcement about the restaurant name and concept in the coming weeks.
Will 103 Colmore Row follow another restaurant concept?
There is much speculation about whether the restaurant will follow one of concepts that D&D has already launched or whether the new venue will have a completely new theme.
D&D venues are pretty diverse. In London its portfolio includes Bluebird Chelsea, German Gymnasium, Quaglinos, Coq d’Argent and Sartoria. In Manchester it has won much praise for 20 Stories and in Leeds you will find Angelica.
With the name and concept to be announced shortly, there won’t be long to find out. The CGI images are certainly distinctive to its other venues.
What has D&D said about the new restaurant previously?
Previously the global luxury restaurant and bar group has said that the 103 Colmore Row restaurant will have a double-height space offering diners panoramic views across the city and beyond.
They said the kitchen and back of house will be located on teh 23rd floor.
The company will operate a ground floor cocktail bar and cafe, wtih an outdoor terrace that will form an integral part of the building’s feature winter garden.
The restaurant will also have a self contained entrance, with two dedicated lifts leading directly from the ground floor cocktail bar.
Des Gunewardena, Chairman and CEO of D&D London, said: “We have been looking to open a restaurant in Birmingham for some time now, just waiting to find the right site. With its central location and unrivalled rooftop views, 103 Colmore Row provides us with a fabulous opportunity to join the city’s thriving restaurant scene.
“Following our Leeds and Manchester openings, and with a Bristol launch planned, our 103 Colmore Row venture reflects our continued commitment to expansion in the UK outside of London.”
