The New York band will be joined by The DiFontaine Orchestra at The Halls, University of Wolverhampton, on Friday (September 11), performing orchestral arrangements of classic hits alongside songs from their first studio album in 15 years.

The orchestra features vocalist Una Palliser, who has recorded and performed with artists including Michael Bublé, Robbie Williams and Amy Winehouse.

Excitement for the shows has grown following the release of a teaser featuring an orchestral version of There Was A Time, from the band's third album, Loco. The new arrangement combines sweeping strings with the song's signature groove, offering fans a glimpse of what to expect from the live performances.

Composer and multi-instrumentalist Brian "Fast" Leiser said film music has always influenced the band's songwriting.

"Films and soundtracks have always been baked into how we write," he said.

"Taking these songs and reimagining them with a full orchestra is something we've wanted to do for years, and it's incredible to hear them this way. The fans will love it."

Fun Lovin' Criminals formed in New York in 1993 and are enjoying renewed success following the release of A Matter of Time, their first studio album since 2010.

Drummer and songwriter Frank Benbini, who co-produced the band's music, said he had long imagined hearing the songs backed by an orchestra.

"Now we're able to bring that sound I've always wanted to hear on the records to the live stage," he said. "It's something different and different is cool."

Tickets are available from The Halls and the band’s websites.
