Birmingham restaurant is selling a kebab every three minutes it’s open!

Kebabs are an ancient dish which originate from the Middle East. They are popular all over Europe because they are versatile. Whether you want a quick bite or an elaborate meal, there is something for everyone.

And that certainly seems to be the case in Birmingham - whre one resturant is selling more than half a million kebabs a year - that’s one every three minutes that they’re open!

The particular favourite appears to be their hanging kebab which is a hybrid of the takeaway favourite - which is served, as you may guess, hanging over your plate!

They also serve a shish kebab, served on a skewer, full of grilled meats and vegetables. It’s a signature Turkish dish which typically contains beef, lamb, fish, chicken, and vegetables like peppers, onion, and mushrooms. Different countries have their own version of it like the satay, yakitori, or brochettes.

The Botanists speciality kebabs don’t end there. Throughouth August the restaurant and bar is offering a Chicken Katsu Curry Hanging Kebab.

This Asian and Middle Eastern fusion is made with crispy panko crusted chicken pieces stacked on a sizable skewer with peppers and onions and sprinkled with herbs. It’s served with a pot of fragrant katsu curry sauce to drip down the kebab for serious food porn action and comes with properly seasoned house fries.

If you don’t fancy a kebab, the Botanist offers a wide range of dishes including Chicken & Chorizo with Smoked Paprika Oil, Salt & Pepper Pork Belly with Bang Bang Sauce, Lamb Kofta with Harissa Jam and Garlic Oil and a Vegan Meatball with Marinara Sauce.

The award-winning bar and restaurant on Temple Street, run by The New World Trading Company (NWTC), has a new offer available for only one month. There’s a limited-edition version of its famous hanging kebab.

Located on14-16 Temple Street, the bar opened in 2015. They are also known for their botanical cocktails, craft ales and beers. They serve brunch daily from 9AM and have some summer deals too.

The NWTC has won The Casual Dining Awards, The Publican Awards and The Restaurant & Bar Design Awards. It was listed in The Sunday Times 100 Best Companies to Work For in 2017, 2018, 2019 and 2020.

Guy Greaves, Development Chef at The Botanist said, “The response we get to our signature hanging kebabs is amazing – it’s become something of a cult favourite. There are fans out there returning to us week after week to get their fix.
