It’s National Prosecco Day on Saturday and you can get some for free in Birmingham. Eco-electric boat company GoBoat is offering guests free prosecco to celebrate on 13 August.

However, there is a special password to get it. Guests visiting GoBoat’s Brindleyplace location simply have to say “bubbles for the boat” and will receive a can of prosecco per guest to enjoy as they set sail across the waterways of Birmingham.

Each person of drinking age gets one can of prosecco until stocks last. It’s on first come first served basis. Those who appear to be under 25 will have to show photo ID. You can choose from one, two or three hour journeys on the boat.

All you have to do to start your ride is go the The Water’s Edge, Birmingham B1 2HL, alongside Brindleyplace and opposite the ICC and Utilita Arena.

On the route, you will see historic landmarks like the ‘roundabout’ at the Old Turn Junction and the former wharves and houses at Gas Street before you reach the modern architecture of the Cube and Mailbox.

Travelling west, you can see the modern housing at Port Loop and Soho Loop as the Mainline canal cuts through a number of meandering older canals in a mile long straight.

Please note, GoBoat can deny any guest alcohol on board and reserves the right to terminate guests’ time on the boat. Right at the beginning, one guest will have to be put forward as a designated driver and must not drink any alcohol.
