Monday you’re in a daze, recovering from the weekend. Tuesday you’re on it - firing ahead, getting to grips with all those tasks.
But by Wednesday, you’re simply stuck in the middle. Those chilled weekend vibes from two days ago have disappeared, and it’s like - just so long till Friday comes around again.
But fear not! Help is at hand right here in Birmingham.
It’s called the Baby Grand Slam - a live jukebox - featuring duelling pianos with a freestyle twist inspired by the legendary parties of New York and Birmingham’s twin city Chicago.
And it comes with some snazzy cabaret, dancing, laughing - and you pick your own music. What’s not to love?
It should certainly put a smile back on your face!
And the popular venue, renowned for its on-site bakery and homemade schnapps, has got a new menu full of goodies to make sure you’ve got plenty of fuel to see you through the night.
BirminghamWorld popped down to the Bier Palace to check it all out for you.
Here’s what we found.
Cook Haus Klassics for the warmer weather
The Cook Haus are serving up new Klassics for the warmer weather such as Pan-Roasted Seabass; fillet of seabass with celeriac purée, green beans and smoked paprika butter, Wild Boar Parpadelle with black forest spiced wild boar, nduja bolognese and parmesan, and Steak Frites; 8oz sirloin with garlic butter, low and slow tomatoes and fries.
The new Kebab Haus menu offers three kebabs all served on charred flatbread with pomegranate, turmeric cabbage, bier chilli sauce, lemon aioli and fresh herbs. These include Lamb Kofta, Chilli Tofu and Pil Pil Prawn.
New additions to the Pudding Klub menu include Banoffee Trifle with Dulce de leche, Savoiardi biscuits, banana custard, vanilla cream, dark chocolate and pistachio and Pretzel Doughnuts, hot cinnamon sugared doughnuts with a salted chocolate caramel dip. The menu also offers scoops of Northern Bloc Ice Cream in flavours such as Vanilla, Chocolate and Sea Salt, Caramel Sea Salt, Raspberry and Sorrel Sorbet and Sicilian Lemon Sorbet.
We can especially recommend the cauliflower cheese krokette and burrata to start. The crispy krokettes crackled with flavour with a tangy filling that really packed a punch. Our burrata with its low and slow tomatoes and frankfurt herb sauce was delightfully accompanied by a flavoursome pretzeltini.
The Lamb Kofta kebabs were a truly special treat. So fresh, so tasty with the softest, most glorious flat bread.
Letting Wednesday wash over us, my pal and I, opted for the baked alaska dessert which came with live fire, lit before our very eyes, and Raspberry, chocolate, vanilla, meringue. It was fabulous.
What about the drinks?
There are so many great cocktails, beers, wines and schnapps to choose from at Albert’s Schloss, you’re sure to find the perfect tipple to tickle your fancy.
Cocktail classics include dark cherry boulvardier, brandy alexander and apple strudel.
There’s a sparkling choice of spritz including rhubarb + fig and lillet spritz. On our wild Wednesday night out, I opted for elderflower and wild raspberry spritz was fantastically sharp not sweet - who needs sweet!?
Well, my friend did, as it happens! She went for the strawberry spritz and said it was a bit sweet, but she highly recommended it!
Here’s what our hosts said about the Baby grand slam concept and new summer menu
Adin Memetovic, General Manager at Albert’s Schloss Birmingham, said: “We love hosting Baby Grand Slam at our Birmingham venue. This unique live jukebox format is super exciting. It’s great to see the crowd interact with our talented Haus band and pianists.”
