New drinking spots and eateries are either opening or have recently opened in Birmingham. The city of a thousand trades is home to an exuberant hospitality industry, with its many bars, pubs, clubs, and restaurants.

A stroll down Broad Street, Digbeth, Brindleyplace or other popular city centre spots will give you a taste of the lively vibe. There are many new bars opening soon, already open - and ones that have been around a while, but have had a make over - waiting to welcome guests to new experiences.

Some are right in the middle of the city centres, others are in Digbeth and the Jewellery Quarter - and most of them are in the headed up by experts in the industry - who know exactly how to make the right headlines.

Here is the list of new bars, pubs and restaurants opening in Birmingham this autumn/winter:

1. The Cocktail Club, Temple Street

The Cocktail Club’s biggest branch is opening in Birmingham on 30 September. The bar will be located on 31 Temple Street. It’s co-founded by award-winning mixologist JJ Goodman. It will be a two-floor space with three bars and a capacity of 450 people. They are already open for booking and have some great offers.

2. Atelier, Jewellery Quarter

A creative drinks studio and cocktail bar from award-winning drinks creator, Robert Wood, is opening this week in Birmingham’s Jewellery Quarter. The intimate and innovative experience will open its doors on 22 September. Their esoteric menus will last for 8-12 weeks only and the first one will be available from 22 September- November. Bookings are open for this.

4. North Taproom, Snow Hill

The independent Leeds-based brewery is opening in Snow Hill in November. It is North’s ninth and the team’s first outside their home county of Yorkshire. At 2,500sqft the taproom will seat 100 covers inside and 25 standing. It will serve 24 draught lines and wines, cocktails, and more. This will open on November 25.

5. Orelle, Colmore Row

This modern French restaurant located on the 24th floor of 103 Colmore Row offers panoramic views across the city and beyond. D&D London’s new opening Orelle is a restaurant, bar, all-day café and has a terrace serving a menu of classic and modern French dishes. It opens in October.

6. Passing Fancies

Birmingham’s Custard Factory now has an exciting new bar - Passing Fancies - which is to open its doors in September. It is headed up by award-winning local bartender Tommy Matthews, former bar manager of Couch, in Stirchley, and The Edgbaston. He joined forces with Matt Arnold and Eve Green of The Edgbaston and Grain & Glass, respectively.

7. Bijoux lounge, Colmore Row

This exciting new lounge is set to open its doors this September. This is going to be a vibrant cocktail lounge serving beautiful liquids, French fusion Canapes - with Djs & Live entertainment.

8. Pitcher & Piano, Brindleyplace

Brindleyplace’s Pitcher & Piano is reopening on 6 October after refurbishment. Earlier, the bar’s owners had said that they it was getting a £800,000 facelift. The bar on the water’s edge is coming back with new and improved features and will be ready for Christmas. The venue’s covers are also expected to grow to 160.

9. Turtle Bay, Brindleyplace

A new Turtle Bay is coming to Brindleyplace on 30 September. The 4,465 sq ft venue will create 60 jobs and will be located at 10 Brindleyplace, Birmingham. It will be bring the vibrant social atmosphere and the delicious food as well as amazing cocktails that the chain is known for.

10. All Bar One, Brindleyplace

All Bar One Brindleyplace, officially reopened on Wednesday (September 14) following an extensive four-week refurbishment, giving the bar an exciting new look.

Managers are delighted with the stunning refurbishment which they say has given the much-loved bar a refreshed and modern look, including a stunning brass top bar, floral detailing and a renovated mezzanine area that can be hired for private parties.

Two of Birmingham’s legendary DJ’s have opened an independent cocktail bar, located in Jewellery Quarter. No.2 officially opened its doors on November 5. Owners Danny Kane and Paulos Barron’s bar will also expand into a dining experience. Breakfast, brunch and lunch will be served from Monday – Saturday and customers can indulge in roast platters on Sundays. It is located on Frederick Street, Jewellery Quarter, Birmingham.

12. The Sunflower Lounge

The Sunflower Lounge has undergone a stunning makeover with local artists Foka Wolf and Sleep Sparrow. The iconic venue, situated in Birmingham’s Southside District on Smallbrook Queensway is relaunching with its new look to all from 7pm on Saturday, November 19 - and entry is free.
