Wolves have learned of the apparent transfer stance of January target Ben Godfrey amid a possible battle to secure his signature.
First and foremost, Wolves are working on a deal to appoint Vitor Pereira, and then things such as transfer targets will be discussed. Pereira is due to fly in to England today, according to Sky Sports journalist Danyal Khan, with personal terms and compensation all agreed.

Pereira is likely to be backed as best as he can, and should target some defensive reinforcements given that they have shipped 40 goals this term, the most of any side.
It was reported on Monday that Wolves and Nottingham Forest were said to be leading the chase for Godfrey, who signed for Atalanta for £10m from Everton in the summer. A new update has since emerged, revealing the apparent stance of the potential selling club and the player.

According to The Boot Room, Atalanta are 'happy' with Godfrey, despite not having much of a role in Bergamo. They have looked at how it took a year for former Charlton Athletic forward Ademola Lookman to settle, before he cemented himself as an integral part of the side.
TBR also adds that Godfrey is content with his current position within the team. Atalanta lead Serie A by two points, and there hasn’t been much of a need for Gian Piero Gasperini to tinker with his side.

Given the hurdles Wolves will have to overcome to sign Godfrey given the player isn't set on leaving, it appears a deal is unlikely. Football Insider is reporting that Pereira will be operating on an 'extremely limited budget' when he takes over.
Wolves must operate within the parameters of Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR), and given the cost of sacking O’Neil, they will have to source signings which are within their price range.
