Pereira is in advanced talks over becoming the new Wolves manager following Gary O’Neil’s dismissal and his potential first January signing is already being touted.
Wanderers are reportedly competing with Nottingham Forest to sign Ben Godfrey from Serie A club Atalanta as the defender has played just four times since joining for £10milllion from Everton in the summer.

Hide AdThis is according to The Sun, with the newspaper claiming Godfrey is willing to give up the chance of winning the Italian top flight to gain more regular minutes. Atalanta are at the top of the Serie A standings as it stands - two points ahead of nearest chasers Napoli - but Godfrey has played an insignificant role.
Wolves and Forest are said to be ‘leading the chase’ for Godfrey, who would rather make regular starts rather than sit on the bench in the hope he might collect a Serie A winners’ medal next May. It’s unlikely the situation will improve at Atalanta as the likes of Isak Hien, Odilon Kossounou, Berat Djimsiti, Rafael Toloi and Sead Kolasinac are all ahead in the pecking order.
Godfrey would likely be a suitable signing for Wolves as the Old Gold are in desperate need of better depth and experience at centre-half. One of Gary O’Neil’s last complaints as Wanderers boss was at the lack of physicality in defence and that’s understandable as there’s a real lack of aerial presence.
Having racked up 112 Premier League appearances to date, two-time England international Godfrey would certainly add a spark. The 26-year-old is both quick and strong, two qualities Wolves are yearning for in the absence of Yerson Mosquera.
