Wolves have the chance to boost their ranks with some new signings. Vitor Pereira has the opportunity to put more of his own stamp on the squad over the coming months. The Midlands outfit are likely to face a battle to keep hold of main man Matheus Cunha this summer amid attention from elsewhere.
As for Aston Villa, they are still in with a shout of getting into the Champions League again this season. Their campaign is over just yet and they aim to get into the top five. Unai Emery’s side have three fixtures left to play.

Manchester United are Cunha’s ‘preferred’ destination, according to TalkSPORT reporter Alex Crook on X. Journalist Ben Jacobs has also claimed on social media that Newcastle United and Arsenal are in the frame for his signature. Aston Villa have also been linked with an ambitious swoop.
Cunha, 25, has been a key player for Wolves over recent times and his future is up in the air. He made the switch to Molineux on a temporary basis back in 2023 and his switch was later made permanent. The Brazilian has since fired 31 goals in 68 games, 17 of which have come this term.
He started his career at Coritiba in his native South America before he moved over to Europe as a youngster. The attacker then embarked on spells at FC Sion, RB Leipzig, Hertha Berlin and Atletico Madrid. He has since made England his home and he has a big decision to make on the direction he wants his career to take next.
Will Matheus Cunha stay at Wolves?
There seems to be an air of inevitability that Cunha will leave Wolves for a new challenge. He has a release clause of £60million in his deal. That means he will be free to talk to another team if it is activated.

Hide AdUnited will be in the Champions League if they beat Tottenham Hotspur in the Europa League final later this month in Bilbao. That will help their ability to attract players in the next window. They saw off Athletic Bilbao in the semi-finals over two legs.
Cunha put pen-to-paper on a new contract earlier this year running until 2029. At the time, their sporting director Matt Hobbs said: “The new contract is a reward for what Matheus has done, and symbolises his importance to us on the pitch. It is something that he's earned because of everything he’s given us and will continue to give us.
“Matheus loves the club, loves the fans and really appreciates the opportunity the club has given him. The fans have taken him under their wing, and he’s loved being here, so it's been a really positive experience for both sides. His talent is undeniable and he’s a real winner. He wants us to achieve our goals now, and when a player of his quality shows he's with you and up for the fight, it’s a big lift for everyone. Now he has to do what he’s been doing, and even more. I expect him to knuckle down through the second half of season, because we need everyone at it.”
