Wolves are in the market for reinforcements this summer ahead of next season

Wolves turned to Vitor Pereira during last season. He was brought in as their replacement for Gary O’Neil whilst they were struggling near the bottom of the Premier League table. The Portuguese boss ended up keeping them in the top flight with relative ease in the end.

Pereira is now preparing for his first full campaign at the helm. He has the chance to bring in some signings this summer to boost his squad. Some more players could also head out the exit door following the departures of Matheus Cunha and Rayan Ait-Nouri.

Wolves target Brentford midfielder Yehor Yarmolyuk

Wolves are ‘closely tracking’ Brentford midfielder Yehor Yarmolyuk, according to Caught Offside. He is valued at around £25million and appears to be a wanted man. Leeds United have also been credited with an interest along with Burnley, Tottenham Hotspur, Everton, Borussia Dortmund and Napoli.

Yarmolyuk, 21, has become a key player for the Bees over recent times but they could face a battle to keep hold of him amid attention from elsewhere. He is under contract with the Bees until June 2031. However, there are some big teams believed to be keen.

He started out as a youngster at Stal Kamianske before linking up with Dnipro. He then rose up through their academy ranks and was a regular at various different youth levels before going on to play 21 matches as a teenager. Brentford then swooped to sign him in 2022 as one for the future and he hasn’t looked back since.

Would Brentford’s Yehor Yarmolyuk be a good signing for Wolves?

Wolves could see Yarmolyuk as someone to boost their midfield ranks. If he joined, he would add more quality to their options in the middle of the park. In addition, he is still young and has the potential to grow and develop further down the line.

Brentford have him tied down on a long-term deal so they are not under any pressure to sell him for the next few windows. They can hold out for big money if an external offer comes in. The Bees will be in the hunt for a new boss with Thomas Frank poised to join Tottenham Hotspur.

After securing Yarmolyuk to an extension earlier this year, Frank said: “I’m so pleased. It’s another big success story for the B team. Neil MacFarlane and his team did a great job to get him ready for the first team. Now, he’s been in our first-team squad for two seasons where he’s had a good, natural development. Last year, he got minutes in more or less all the games; this year, he’s added another level. The good thing with Yehor is that he’s one of the best trainers. He trains hard and with good intensity - that’s the best way to get into the team.”

He added: added: “He’s started the last six games, which is his next step. He’s a fantastic pressing player, he’s dynamic, and he covers so much of the pitch. He’s strong in duels and he has a drive to run forward. I like the way he distributes over the pitch. Yehor has a few development areas as he’s still a young player, but he is another good example of a Brentford player who will make us better in the future and who will also get better himself.”
