Wolves have an important couple of months ahead of them on the transfer front

Wolves finished the past Premier League season in 16th place. They struggled for results during Gary O’Neil in the early stages of the campaign before Vitor Pereira came in. The Portuguese boss then kept them up with relative ease in the end and made a positive impression.

The Midlands outfit have seen Matheus Cunha and Rayan Ait-Nouri head out the exit door recently. They have joined up with Manchester United and Manchester City respectively. Pereira now needs to bring in some replacements this summer.

Leeds United eye move for Wolves attacker Fabio Silva

Leeds United are keen on a move for Wolves attacker Fabio Silva, according to ABC Sevilla, and talks have already been initiated. The 22-year-old is due to return for pre-season but his future is up in the air. He has spent this last term on loan in La Liga at Las Palmas but couldn’t prevent them from relegation.

La Provincia claimed in late April that Villarreal, Atletico Madrid, Eintracht Frankfurt and Stuttgart were eyeing up a swoop as well. Silva snapped up by his parent club for a hefty £35 million price tag but he has struggled to make an impact in England. He has made 73 appearances in all competitions and has scored five goals.

The forward has also been loaned out in the past to Anderlecht, PSV and Rangers. He is under contract until June 2026 meaning he has just over 12 months left. Wolves risk losing him for nothing if they don’t cash in on him now or in January, assuming he doesn’t put pen-to-paper on an extension anytime soon.

What now for Wolves striker Fabio Silva?

Wolves have a decision to make on what to do next with Silva. Cutting ties with him is probably the best option and would suit both parties. They are unlikely to get what they paid for him though.

Leeds could see him as someone to boost their attacking ranks. The Whites are back in the top flight following their promotion from the Championship. Daniel Farke’s men won the second tier title and went up with Burnley and Sunderland.

After signing him for Wolves back in 2020, their chairman Jeff Shi said: "Our recruitment team have been watching Fabio since he played for Portugal under-16s and they feel he has always been the best number nine coming through his age group anywhere in Europe.

"Fabio is a young player who shows not only incredible technical ability, but also his game intelligence for a player of his age is top class. Fabio has the potential to be a generational talent and for us to see him develop under Nuno is very exciting. He is the type of player our fans will love."

If he went to Leeds, he would give them something different to call upon up front. The Yorkshire club need to ensure that they get their recruitment right if they are to meet the step up to the Premier League. It is becoming harder for promoted teams to stay up.
