Silva arrived from FC Porto in the summer of 2020 for a then club-record fee of around £35m. Aged 18 at the time, Silva arrived on the back of a season which had seen him become the Portuguese’s side’s youngster European appearance holder of all-time whilst also becoming Porto’s youngest starter in history as they lifted their 29th Premeira Liga title.

The teenager had only scored one goal in 12 league appearances, but had gained a reputation for being one of the brightest young forwards in European football after a series of incredible displays for Portugal at U19 and U21 level.

However, the young prodigy has never really lived up to the hype in the West Midlands and has only managed to register five goals and six assists across his 72 appearances in all competitions.

Silva failed to establish himself as a starter under four different managers including Nuno Espirito Santo, Bruno Lage, Julen Lopetegui and most recently Gary O’Neil. He has also spent time on loan at the likes of Anderlecht, PSV and Rangers but has failed to thrive in any of those three leagues.

The 22-year-old recently returned to the West Midlands from Glasgow but recently admitted in June that he is not interested in remaining at Wolves next season, according to TeamTalk. The outlet adds that Villarreal, Espanyol, Wolfsburg and Genoa are among the four clubs keeping a close eye on Silva’s availability as they look to try and rejuvenate the former wonderkid’s career.

Scottish outlet Daily Record adds that Wolves would be willing to accept a figure of £17m to sell Silva, which would be less than half the amount that they spent on the Portuguese forward back in 2020.

The money raised would help Wolves alleviate any potential FFP concerns that could arise and would aid O’Neil in his efforts to land a suitable Pedro Neto replacement after the winger’s blockbuster £54m to Chelsea this summer.
